Adult Summer Reading Program

​You might think of summer reading programs being for kids and teens, but we have a program for adults, too. In fact, this year, we have two programs for adults to choose from:

  • Reading Dragons & Friends: Use your reading minutes to buy playing cards for a fun, librarian-designed all ages card game! Click here to learn more.

Our 2025 Summer Reading program begins on Monday, June 16 and ends on Saturday, August 30. Participation and tracking takes place on the library’s READsquared online platform.

READsquared is simple to use and can be accessed online or through an app on your smartphone or tablet. If you've participated in our summer reading or winter BINGO programs in the past, you can use the same account for this year's program. New to summer reading at AFL? Account creation takes just a few minutes and also includes the option to link other readers giving you the ability to log reading for your whole household in just a few clicks.

Need a break from your book? Join us in July and August for our Family Garden Shows on Monday nights and our Queset Garden Concert Series on select Thursday nights.

There are two ways to earn points for the summer reading raffle: logging time spent reading and writing book reviews.

You'll earn 1 point for every minute of reading logged. It doesn't matter if you read in print, digitally, or listen to audiobooks. It all counts as reading!

You can also earn 140 points for every book review submitted. We don't expect a full book report, just a few sentences about what you liked or didn't like about the book. Note: Please allow up to 72 hours for book review points to appear in your account.

Throughout the summer, the points you earn can be redeemed as virtual raffle entries!

Each raffle entry is 140 points. You can enter as many raffles as you like, but prize winners are not eligible to win more than one prize.

Raffle drawings will be held the week of September 2.
