Ames Free Library

"Where the Community Connects"

LIBRARY CLOSED TO PUBLIC & STAFF THROUGH MAY 4, 2020 - Please check back for updates

The Town of Easton and Easton Select Board have declared a State of Emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. On Monday, March 23, the Governor of Massachusetts issued an order for non-essential businesses to close their physical buildings to workers and the public, while encouraging those businesses to operate remotely. Given that proactive flattening of the contagion will serve Easton in the long run:

  • The Ames Free Library and Queset House will be closed to the public and to staff through May 4, 2020.
  • All public programming and private group meetings at the Library and Queset House are suspended until further notice.
  • "Holds pickup" window is now closed, based on the direct recommendation of the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC).
  • Please do not return any materials while the Library remains closed.  Library items will not be due until June 4. There will be no late fines accruing during the period the Library remains closed.
  • As always, a range of online resources are available here on the website, 24/7, including our online reference services and brand-new, online Storytimes!  You may also register for a library card online. Library staff are continuing to work hard on increasing innovative online programs, so keep checking back for updates.

Friends of the Library

3/14/2020: In the interests of health and safety, the Book Sale room at Queset House will be closed for sales and book donations until further notice. We look forward to re-opening as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

The Friends of the Ames Free Library is a nonprofit organization integral to promoting and supporting Library activities and programs, and purchases items not included in the Library’s budget. We hold book sales several times a year and participate in other Library-related events.

The Friends Book Sale Room is a hidden gem! Located in Queset House, it offers a huge collection of gently used books to suit any interest for both adults and children. Hardcover books are a bargain at $1.00, paperbacks are $.50, audio books are $3.00 and specialty books are priced individually. Teachers may buy books for their classrooms at half price.

The Book Sale Room is open during regular Library hours: Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. We gladly accept donations of good quality books (preferably on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm).  We cannot accept textbooks, magazines, or music CDs.
