Teen Summer Reading Program

This summer, teens have the choice between two different summer reading programs. Our traditional teen summer reading program in which you earn points for reading and writing reviews, then use those points to purchase raffle tickets for cool prizes, is back! If you're not into raffles and want to participate in the Reading Dragons & Friends program, you can opt to register for that program instead of the traditional teen summer reading program. The information on the rest of this page is about the traditional teen summer reading program. Follow this link to learn more about the all-ages Reading Dragons & Friends program.

All summer reading programs at the Ames Free Library begin on Monday, June 16! You can start logging minutes as soon as school lets out for the summer.

For every 1 minute of reading that you log, you will earn 1 point. Want to earn more points quickly? Write a book review for a book you just finished! For every review you write, you'll earn 100 points.

Whether you're completing your school assigned summer reading* or reading for pleasure, the minutes count! Ebooks, physical books, audiobooks... it all counts as reading.

*EMS & OAHS students can find their summer reading lists here!
