VolunTEENS

VolunTEENs are teen volunteers who assist the Ames Free Library with a variety of tasks.

Our VolunTEEN program began in 2022 as a summer-long commitment for teens (ages 13 to 18) who specifically assist the Youth Services Department with the kids summer reading incentive program. Summer VolunTEENs are expected to serve pre-established shifts every week of the summer with the exception of vacations, camps, or other known absences noted at the beginning of the summer.

We have now added a VolunTEEN Club that meets during the school year for teens looking to earn service hours. This club meets monthly so that teens can plan and collaborate on various projects that benefit the library and local community including providing homework help for kids, planning fun events for teens, and contributing to the official library teen newsletter. The VolunTEEN Club is for teens in middle and high school who are ages 12 to 18.
