Ames Free Library

"Where the Community Connects"

LIBRARY CLOSED TO PUBLIC & STAFF THROUGH MAY 4, 2020 - Please check back for updates

The Town of Easton and Easton Select Board have declared a State of Emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. On Monday, March 23, the Governor of Massachusetts issued an order for non-essential businesses to close their physical buildings to workers and the public, while encouraging those businesses to operate remotely. Given that proactive flattening of the contagion will serve Easton in the long run:

  • The Ames Free Library and Queset House will be closed to the public and to staff through May 4, 2020.
  • All public programming and private group meetings at the Library and Queset House are suspended until further notice.
  • "Holds pickup" window is now closed, based on the direct recommendation of the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC).
  • Please do not return any materials while the Library remains closed.  Library items will not be due until June 4. There will be no late fines accruing during the period the Library remains closed.
  • As always, a range of online resources are available here on the website, 24/7, including our online reference services and brand-new, online Storytimes!  You may also register for a library card online. Library staff are continuing to work hard on increasing innovative online programs, so keep checking back for updates.

Teen Den

The Teen Den at the Ames Free Library is closed until further notice, due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus in Easton.

The Teen Den is located on the first floor of the Library, and houses our collection of YA fiction, graphic novels, manga, magazines, audio books and electronic games. This area is dedicated to teens only every day after 2 p.m. for socialization, homework, gaming, or simply hanging out. There is a TV with gaming systems that are free to use, an assortment of physical games and art materials, and of course, books for perusal. Please let us know if you have any recommendations for this space!

AFL Teen Advisory Board

All AFL Teen Advisory Board meetings have been suspended until further notice.

Teens ages 12 to 18 can earn volunteer or community service hours by joining the AFL Teen Advisory Board and attending monthly meetings.

By joining the AFL Teen Advisory Board, teens can:

  • Help plan events and programs at the Library
  • Help choose Library materials
  • Promote Library awareness!

Meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month from 4:00 - 5:00 PM in the Teen Den of the Main Library.

Drinks and snacks are served at all meetings!
