As experienced readers know, A Glimpse of Nature concentrates on the natural phenomena around the Ames Free Library or in nearby areas of Southeastern Massachusetts. On rare occasions, though, the author goes somewhere else. When I travel I bring my interests with me; so, not surprisingly, I do a lot of nature study
Hence, this week’s post will take you on a trip. I promise to offer only a few highlights and to spare you my hundreds of photos. Your challenge is to discern where I went. Upon arrival at my destination, I settled into some bucolic oak woodlands, a familiar terrain populated with a new set of species.
After a few days of acclimation and exploration, it was time for the field trip. We chose a route with built-in entertainment: a refuge dense with shorebirds.
Small wonders greeted us at the getaway . . .
but large mammals stole the show.Now, that should give you plenty of clues!
