This summer, Ames Free Library is adding a summer reading incentive program for babies, toddlers, and pre-readers: Rubber Ducky Club Bingo!
Rubber Ducky Club Bingo is a way for our buddies who aren’t quite reading yet to participate in our Kids Summer Reading Incentive Program! This program is designed for children ages 0 to 4* to help develop early literacy skills and encourage life-long reading habits.
Every month, a new bingo board will be available on ReadSquared full of early literacy activities for you and your little one to complete together. Once you've finished a single line of bingo, you will be awarded a special rubber ducky prize. Complete the full bingo card to win a big rubber duck that sparkles in the sun! All prizes may be picked up in the Children's Room.
Each bingo activity is meant to help your child develop one of the five early literacy practices: READING, TALKING, SINGING, WRITING, and PLAYING. They’ll help your little one learn to love books, increase vocabulary, practice fine motor skills, learn about rhythm and rhyme, think symbolically, and engage in narrative sequencing through dramatic play! Visit Every Child Ready to Read to learn more about these early literacy practices.
*Note: Children may only participate in one program. If your child is 4, you may choose to enroll in either the Pre-Readers program or the Kids Summer Reading Program. Learn about programs for all age levels here.
