Earning Points
Over the course of the summer, log the minutes you read every day as you grow into a bigger reader! Each minute you read is equal to one point. For every 60 minutes of reading you log, you can purchase either a Mystery Bead or a Reading Dragons & Friends card in the ReadSquared Prize Store. You can learn more about Reading Dragons & Friends here: amesfreelibrary.org/reading-dragons-friends
What counts as reading? Reading a physical book or eBook on your own, reading aloud to someone else, listening to someone else read aloud to you, listening to an audiobook, and reading a graphic novel or magazine all count as reading!
Redeeming Points for Prizes
You'll be eligible for your first prize before you even start earning points! Once you've registered, you will have a Welcome Pack to pick up in the Children's Room. This pack will include a starter pack and instructions for the Reading Dragons & Friends card game, a chain for your beads, and a Book Buck which can be used to purchase used books from the library book sale cart or at the Friends of the Library Book Store at Queset House (open Monday through Saturday from 1:00 PM until the library closes).
Once you've racked up some reading minutes and earned some points, go into the Prize Store on ReadSquared to choose your prizes. You can use your minutes to purchase a mystery bead (check out our freshly stocked Mystery Bead Bin when you come to pick up your prize!) or variety of awesome Reading Dragons & Friends card designs. We've brought back designs from last summer, added some new official Reading Dragons & Friends designs, and have some super cool cards that Easton kids have designed just for us! We'll add new cards to our collection as the summer goes on, so keep an eye out for those announcements.
Once you've checked out of the ReadSquared Prize Store with the prizes you want to spend your minutes on, you can stop by the Children's Room at the library where a friendly VolunTEEN or librarian will help you pick up your prize.
School Reading Lists
Students in the Easton Public Schools entering kindergarten through 8th grade can find information about their summer reading lists here: amesfreelibrary.org/easton-public-schools-summer-reading-2026 as well as in the Children's Room at the library!
