Take Your Child to the Library Day

On the first Saturday in February, thousands of libraries across the world celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day by offering free, fun, fabulous activities for families. The Ames Free Library is no exception!

All day long, families are invited to dig through our treasure chest to find the best treasure of all. Your bounty will be a mysteriously-wrapped tome, available for check-out. Roll a die to select a book marked with a color-coded gemstone. Wait to unwrap it until you get home. Then, discover a world of wonders!

From 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, children can also participate in a bookish Scavenger Hunt and Craft! Hunt for the craft materials needed to make your very own book. Follow the clues to find a front and back cover, yarn for book-binding, pages to go inside, and take a Polaroid picture to serve as your official author photo. Discover stories both on the shelf and in your heart...at the library!
