The original library building, designed by H.H. Richardson in 1877, opened its doors to the people of Easton in May of 1883, and has provided informational services and resources to all who have entered since then. The iconic tile roof of the Richardson building has withstood 75 winters since it was last replaced, and we need your help to ensure that it can withstand 75 more.
At the November Town Meeting you took the first step in helping us with this goal by voting in favor of appropriating $485,658 of Community Preservation funds towards the cost of replacing our iconic roof; however, that amount is less than half of the total cost of the project.
We’re proud of our historic library, and know that you are too. 60,363 people spent time learning, playing, singing, and sharing just this year. Your support will help maintain the Ames Free Library, an Easton treasure, for generations to come. Your donation will not only help us replace the roof, it will also allow us to focus on the library’s mission of providing materials and services to help the residents of Easton obtain information to meet their personal, educational, professional, and recreational needs. And to continue to be Where the Community Connects.
