Family Fun: Imagine Your... Escape Room?

Looking for a different kind of family activity? Check out our virtual quizzes and escape rooms based on our summer Imagine Your Story theme!

Every other Monday, there will be a new quiz focused on some imaginative theme, and the following week there will be a virtual escape room to explore based on the same subject. Throughout the summer, you’ll explore space, gain superpowers, conjure up some magic, commandeer a pirate ship, and tame mythical creatures.

Program Updates: ReadSquared Missions

Have you signed up for summer reading yet? Do it now! It’s all online, so you can sign up, record your reading, and select your prize beads (kids up to age 12) or raffle tickets (teens and adults) right from your device!

Once you’re logged in, check out all fun extras! Follow your reading progress on the game board, play mini-games, enter codes to earn fun badges (you’ll find those with some program links), and look for your personal secret missions!

Program Updates: Mr. Wayne kicks off Family Fun Events!

Although our summer events look different this year, we are still hosting a variety of family and children’s activities and events. The Family Fun events that are usually held in our garden will instead be held in YOUR garden (or living room)! Our traditional season opener, Mr. Wayne Potash, will host a Zoom concert tonight, Monday, June 22 at 6:00 PM. If you miss the live event, you can watch the recording for two weeks following the event (through Monday, July 6).

Program Updates: LEGO Club

It might be a while before we can host our once-a-month Lego Club again, but you can use whatever you’ve got at home to recreate some of the fun! Sometimes the fun of Legos is building whatever it is that your set makes - but once you’ve done a few of those, it can be fun to go rogue! If you’ve got sets lying around that haven't been touched since they were built, think about breaking them apart (don't lose the pieces! Try using an old pencil case to keep tabs on all the parts) and using your imagination to create something entirely new.

Program Updates: Take Apart Table

My hairdryer broke recently. It’s not a big deal; I almost never use it. But now what do I do with it? Well… a few times a year, we run a “take apart table” at the library – a chance for kids to look under the hood, so to speak, of common electronics and devices. We’ve dismantled a computer, a stereo, keyboards, a cell phone, a laminator… and parents have almost as much fun as their kids!

Program Updates: Storytime

If you’ve somehow missed it, here’s your reminder to check out our virtual storytimes! It’s been hard not being able to see our favorite smiling faces every week, but we’re trying to keep your kiddos engaged with some online entertainment instead. If you’re a storytime regular, you’ll find a lot of familiar content along with familiar faces. If you haven’t been to storytime before, welcome! Now’s the time to check it out! There is a version of each regularly scheduled storytime updated every week.
