Mom says not to play with your food... but what about for the sake of science? STEM Craft & Create: explore science, technology, engineering, and math concepts through craft & play! In this session, we’ll use popcorn (before and after it’s popped) to learn about volume and steam expansion - and then we’ll make it dance! You will also end up with a popcorn snack to munch on after the program’s over.
You’ll need to have some household materials and a microwave on hand. At home, you should have:
- a tall glass or Mason jar
- 2 Tablespoons of baking soda
- 1 cup of white vinegar
- salt and butter (to taste - for flavoring your popcorn!)
We’ll provide the popcorn kernels and other specialized supplies. Kits will be available to pick up in Youth Services starting on Friday, November 19.
No registration is required but you must pick up your kit to participate. Join us at: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/89058239268?pwd=VkNNRzBGR0dRQzZHalJlRmMyTU4xZz09
This program is best for children ages 5 and up. We will be popping the popcorn in a microwave. Adult supervision is strongly recommended.
