Chefiatou Tokou, a Massachusetts-based dancer and choreographer, is originally from Togo in West Africa. A life-long dancer, Chéfi began her professional career over a decade ago, focusing on teaching Contemporary, Cultural and Urban African dance. Although she teaches dance moves from across the continent, she is mostly specialized in West and Central African dance steps. She uses the historical significance of the dance moves as a means to teach about the country or region the steps originated from, as well as how to identify the style of song they’re set to. Chéfi is known for motivating her students to dream big and fully realize their life’s purpose. She is the founder of the Simdaca African Dance Academy.
This is a two series workshop to discover, learn about Cultural and Urban African Dance. All ages, everyone is welcomed.
