Master Class Online - Devising Our Times Youth Playwriting & Acting Workshop

The Ames Free Library in collaboration with the MMAS Academy is proud to present

A virtual playwriting workshop where students ages 10 - 17 will write, rehearse, and perform their own monologues and scenes.

Directed by: MMAS Artistic Director, Dori Bryan-Ployer

Thursdays, August 6th, 13th, and 20th from 3 - 4:30 p.m. via Zoom

Devising Our Times gives students the opportunity to write, design, and perform material based on class prompts, stories, and improvisation. Using time tested theatrical techniques and approaches, students will explore various themes of interest which they will present through monologue, scene study, word play, physicalization, and storytelling.

Participants will want to have:

  • A journal
  • Colored pencils, markers, crayons
  • Drawing paper
  • A space where they can engage in a physical warm-up (one foot in front, behind, and to the right and left of the participant is sufficient)
  • An area for writing

Devising Our Times will also explore the use of mask on the stage and the techniques actors mastered to convey emotion and story.

Be sure not to miss this exciting and creative program!
