Youth Summer Reading Program 2020: Bubble Exploration Tuesday STEM Activity

For kids and families! Join Miss Jess on Zoom every Tuesday at 2 p.m. for some creative, hands-on summer STEM activities.

Everybody loves bubbles! You can try making your own solution with us, or just make your own wands. We’ll predict what kind of shapes we’ll get from different shapes of bubble wands. If you’re feeling brave, we’ll walk you through making a 3D bubble wand!

You’ll need:

  • A small bowl
  • Pipe cleaners (also known as chenille stems)
  • Scissors
  • And to make the bubble solution, you’ll need 2 Tablespoons of dish soap (Dawn is reported to work best!), water, and 2 teaspoons of corn syup (optional but helpful). Alternatively, you can use any prepared bubble solution that you might already have on hand.

If you participate in this program, you can enter the code BUBBLE on your READSquared dashboard to earn a program badge! (For more information on READSquared, visit our Youth Summer Reading Program 2020 page.)
