Mindful: a two-part workshop

The Ames Free Library is delighted to host our Artist-In-Residence at MINDFUL: a two-part workshop on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 and Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Queset House, 51 Main Street, Easton.
ROSE CLANCY  (roseclancy.comis a sculptor and installation artist whose works invite personal reflection and advocate the nurturing of neglected spaces into productive spaces. Her works will be on exhibit at the Fuller Craft Museum.
As the Library Artist-In-Residence, Rose will offer this two-part workshop:

I will provide an artist talk about my work in the “Mindful” exhibition, and lead an object wrapping workshop where the theme of transformation is highlighted. I can envision making a connection to the post-industrial economic transformation of Brockton, using the history of The Ames Shovel Company, the discovery of gold in California, and The Union Pacific Railroad as topics for discussion. Rusty shovel heads and railroad spikes would be used as the rusty objects that will be wrapped in the object wrapping workshop. The wrapped items would then be taken to The Fuller Craft Museum, where they will be added to the “Dangerous Objects Made Safe” sculpture to age for 8 weeks. At the close of the project, the object wraps will return to the Ames Library where they will be unwrapped with participants of the workshop.

An Incredibly Interesting, Different, and Not-To-Be-Missed-Event!

Free and open to all.
