Current hours:

Monday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Visits are limited to a maximum of 45 minutes per person.

Total occupancy in the building is limited to 10 visitors at any given time, so short waits outside may be necessary.

All services below are FREE with your Ames Free Library card, and titles are automatically returned at the end of the lending period - meaning no late fees, ever!

Access Visit sails.overdrive.com to see what is available through the Ames Free Library. Mobile users may download the OverDrive app from your device's app store. Visit your device's app store to install, or visit libbyapp.com to access Libby resources directly through your browser. First, register for a Hoopla account on hoopladigital.com. Mobile users can download the Hoopla app at the bottom of the Hoopla Digital main page.

 More *Effective September 4, 2019, Overdrive will be ending support for OverDrive for Mac. This means that Mac users will no longer see the option to download audiobook titles. Please feel free to try Libby for audiobooks instead! You also have the option to listen to audiobooks directly through your browser using OverDrive Listen.  

COVID-19 service update: Check out 4 items each month! PLUS the Hoopla Bonus Borrows program has more than 30 curated collections of over 1,100 top titles and Hoopla favorites. (Bonus Borrows don't count toward your total monthly borrows!)

Also be sure to look for the Ames Free Library's curated lists! From the Hoopla Digital app, use the "Genre" button, select your genre, and under the "Categories" tab, look for categories that have "AFL" in the title. From your browser, you'll use the "Browse" drop-down menu and follow the same process.

gr 7-12 eBook Database

TeenBookCloud is an online database of eBooks and educator resources perfect for students in grades 7-12. It offers a robust selection of Graphic Novels, Enhanced Novels, eBooks, classic literature, National Geographic videos, educator resources, and audiobooks. The collection is available online around the clock. No downloads, no waiting! If you can access the internet, you can be reading, watching, or listening to fantastic content.
